DC Extended Universe

DC is a FIlm franchise which stands for DC Extended Universe using the logic of the Earth inside the Multiverse system. DC Extended Universe consist of movies which are interconnected to each other and use the characters which are mentioned in the DC comics. Producer of the comic books are Warner Brothers and DC studios. The tie up of Warner Bros and DC studios leads to the production of many short films, comics and video games.

DCUE begin their journey as a competitor of Marvel Cinematic Universe in the year 2013 by the launch of the movie Man Of Steel continued by Superman, Suicide Squad , Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman , Shazam! , Birds of Prey , Wonder Woman 1984 , The Suicide Squad 2, and Black Adam and will continued by Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in the year 2023.

According to some reports, the release of Flash will be the beginning of a new era for the continuation of DC films and after the release of Creature Commandos that is superman legacy. The new era will be officially released.

When it was first announced that Man Of Steel will be the beginning to the new era of DC Entertainments as DCUE at that time fans used to call it as DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU) after the foundation of  Marvel Cinematic Universe on 1st July, 2015. After the release of Justice league many fans thought that this would be in the extended universe of DC as SnyderVerse and asked for more stories but they are still struggling to bring a conclusion to it.      

James Gunn in 2021 confirmed that the name DCUE is still used as a label internally. Since then all the official articles of DC comics started to use DCUE as a label for interconnecting universes.

DC Extended Universe Movies Release Order

Christopher Nolan’s Bat-trilogy and Constantine are not counted as a part of DC Extended Universe and almost all the movies starting from Man Of Steel is a part of DC Extended Universe.although there are still some odds in the list which fans have confusion while interconnecting. In case of Snyder cut it is preferred to watch the 2017 Justice League for canon. But synder’s 2021 was very unique as it tells us about some of our favorite characters and it is also a premium quality movie which is already out by th eDC movies. To keep it simple we are keeping all the movies which are released under DC labels except Joker and Batman movies which are completely different from the DC Universe. So the release order is:

DC Extended Universe TV and Webseries

• Peacemaker (2022)

First web series consisting of eight episodes, first episode released on 13th January 2022 and last episode released on 17th February 2022 written by James Gunn. It is an action series whose lead actor is Christoper Smith AKA Peacemaker. According to the plot he is an insane murderer who believes that killing people will give him peace. He is anyone anywhere to achieve his goals. It is exclusively available on HBO max to watch and according to some news they have renewed the series with a second season consisting of action packed.

• Constantine (TBA)

It is an exclusive series of  HBO Max based on the supernatural power of John Constantine. It has been announced that the series was going to release on 26th September 2022 but due to unavoidable circumstances it has been delayed and now the date is not fixed. It has been created by J.J.Abrams and written by Guy Bolton.

• Justice League Dark (TBA)

This is the series which is produced by Bad Robot Production and going to be released on HBO Max created by J.J.Abrams. This was supposed to be released earlier but because the director stepped down from the project due to conflict in schedule and in august 2017 Gerad Johnstone took control over it and completed the story.

•  The Sucide Squad Spin Off series (TBA)

Christal Henry is the showrunner of this series and is under development. Expected to be released in 2024.

1. Etta’s Mission in (2017)

This is the movie which is directed by Patty Jenkins and also named as Epilogue: Etta’s mission. The movie was released after the main event of the Wonder Woman movie. The plot is about Etta hiring Wonder Woman for a secret mission to improve mankind.

The story was written from the time five thousand years ago when Khandaq was full of culture, money and a melting pot. They used to have everything except someone who can protect them. They need a hero to protect their wealth. This is an animated story which shows the whole journey of Adam to become Black Adam and to join the justice society. The short film was basically created inorder to introduce the character black adam.

1. Superman 75th Anniversary Animated short in (2013)

Released on 15th October 2013 a two minutes short film that tells about the history of superman after the release of the movie Man Of Steel. The main motive for creating this two minute video is to tell viewers that the timeline of DC will be followed by Superman and also to increase the interest of the DC fans Because Superman was a childhood hero whom people love to watch.

• The Mother Box Origins in (2021)

This animated movie was released to make it as an introduction to Justice league when it was supposed to be released as a web series but it got reproduced and this got released as a movie. This movie does not tell any story, instead it shows the life of all the five characters of the Justice League. The characters are Aquaman , Batman, Superman, Flash , and Wonder woman.

DC Extended Universe Movies Watch Order And Timeline

DC movies are easy to maintain their timeline or chronological order unlike the huge Marvel Cinematic Universe’s timeline. Still some movies like Aquaman, Shazami and Birds of Prey are hard to keep in the correct frame of the timeline. Even the timeline could have been destroyed by the entry of the new wonder woman film but thanks to Easter eggs for some posters which clears the timeline.
